Northern Témiscamingue
Linking Ontario and Quebec and connecting the Abitibi and Témiscamingue regions, Notre-Dame-du-Nord is located at the head of Lake Temiskaming. It is host to the Truck Rodeo, an international heavy truck competition that attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Fossilarium, an interpretation centre dedicated to life on earth before the dinosaurs, boasts an impressive collection of fossils. Visit the Première-Chute hydroelectric power plant to learn how electricity is produced and see the main components of a power plant.The great outdoors surrounding Notre-Dame-du-Nord is inviting. There are several kilometres of hiking trails along the river and lake, as well as canoeing and kayaking routes for paddling enthusiasts. The many waterways surrounding Rémigny and Angliers are ideal destinations for fishing and boating. Visitors are welcome to stop in at the nature interpretation centre and three museums to learn more about the history of the Témiscamingue area.
