Central Témiscamingue

Located in the heart of a farming valley, Ville-Marie is the county town of the Témiscamingue area. Nearby Lake Temiskaming imbues the town with an aura of calm. The Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Northeastern Ontario gourmet fair (more commonly known as the Foire Gourmande) is an event you won't want to miss, where nature and gourmet food meet to offer a wide array of delights to hungry visitors. Other attractions in Ville-Marie include the International Miniature Art Biennial, the Maison du Frère-Moffet heritage house, and Chocolats Martine, an artisan chocolate factory.

The countryside near Ville-Marie has myriad charms. Tourists can purchase many locally-grown products directly from the farm and cycling enthusiasts will enjoy the picturesque, 45-km-long bike path that meanders through woodlands and farmlands. History buffs can visit the Fort Témiscamingue-Obadjiwan National Historic Site as well as several museums and interpretation centres showcasing the history and natural environment of the Témiscamingue area. The Guigues Western Festival is a yearly event that attracts many country music, horseback riding, and rodeo fans.
